If you’ve been reading my ramblings for a while, you know that back in September I mentioned that I was really enjoying a sci-fi comedy-adventure webcomic called Spacetrawler. In fact, I’ve fallen behind with all the other webcomics that I read but I keep up religiously with Spacetrawler. The art is beautiful, the writing is smart and engaging, and he manages to create a world that is both logical and inane. I love it! I’m definitely hooked.
For those who prefer reading comics on paper, or who just love Spacetrawler so much we want it represented on our comic shelf (yup, that’s us), the first Spacetrawler book is available for $20 from TopatoCo. We’ll be ordering it, we want it on our shelves!
And if you were thinking of jumping into webcomics, Spacetrawler is a great one to start with. Our webcomic Karma Kat and Dogma is more in the tradition of newspaper cartoon strips—there is no continuity between strips, other than the characters themselves. Spacetrawler is a real serial story, in which each webcomic is part of a greater plot. The book collects the first 120 pages which forms a cohesive storyline, and that storyline is currently being continued on the website. And of course the great thing about webcomics is that the entire content of the book is available for you to read online, so you can determine if you like it for free, then buy it if you do.
Anyway, check it out—I really like it, and highly recommend it!
