Its definitely good to see that comics have caught a second wind in the digital realm. I agree with your point on there needing to be an iTunes for digital comics, but its too early for that. Personally, I'd like to see that "iTunes" idea attach itself somehow to local comic shops in order to keep them relevant.

More competition is a good indicator that the market is worthwhile, though, for some reason, I believed that this would be a DC/Marvel exclusive reader issue farther down the road when digital comics began to pick up more steam (money).

Hi There Orren,
Interesting Post, I learn and liked Watchmen about two many years back again and then noticed the motion picture! (in reality liked that also :) ) I loved enjoying Batman Returns and The Dim Knight, Iron Guy, and others. I've begun looking at Fables and truly like that. I have been accumulating manga for several years now (I'm now mid-way through highschool) and like the art and storytelling. (I have arrive to want titles that are geared to an mature audience however, this sort of as Pluto and Mushishi, considering that I have developed drained of terribly instructed shonen/shojo titles) And I absolutely adore 80's amusement so much Akira, Gundam, Pluto those people hold a substantial attraction for me... The only dilemma I've at any time had with american comics is the font! It can quickly acquire away very much of the action, considering that it can be not attractive to me. Possibly I am going to mature on it, although? Anyways, level is I just bought a four-day move to SDCC and I want to grow my american comic looking at to make the most of SDCC and to increase considerably more reading through in the entire comics style. I want to begin the process of reading through at the very least a several a whole lot more sequence and see where exactly it can take me :)
Cheers

I totally agree with MR. Mann, the shoe removal is BS, since the shoe bomber, how any exploding shoes has the TSA found??

I travel just about every week, and I hate going to the airport, thru those worthless security checks; even today travel from Vancouver, Canada to Houston, I was singled out and every piece of my carry was taken apart and inspect, total BS.

I have traveled thru Israel, Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, Dubai, et I would say the Israel's have it right,

And Mann is correct, the Muslims will bide their time, 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, they will strike again. I wonder why they have not attacked shopping malls or just run a vehicle with explosives into the the busy airport terminal.

About the only thing the TSA & our beloved Govt. has accomplished has inspired folks to make enough money so they can afford their own private plane.

In France, it's considered a delicacy by some. I'm pretty certain I've been served horse at least once when I was in France. You gotta eat what you're fed and all that. Still, I come from a similar thought process, that these are animals that were domesticated for something other than food and therefore should not be a part of our food chain. On the other hand, if someone offered me enough for my daughter's horses......................

Well, let me reiterate that it's the legalizing for human consumption part that troubles me as much as anything. At some level, it's cultural. We don't eat dogs or cats, mostly because we love them as pets, and don't see them as food. It's the same with horses—they have meant more to human culture and societal evolution than simply being protein.

Another of the aspects that really makes me made is the fact that in 2008 Obama said that he was opposed to horse slaughter, and at the time he promised to outlaw the export of horses to slaughter (which is what was being done; horses would simply go to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered there). Every politician breaks campaign promises. But it's one thing to simply not do something you promised to do; he went from "I'm going to outlaw horse slaughter" to "would you like 20% horse meat or 40% horse meat in your McBurger?" And I'm only partially being glib. The truth is that livestock management is a very serious and complex issue, and there are many legitimate arguments to be made as to legalizing the slaughter of any livestock. But livestock management does not also necessarily include turning them into food. And I'm just left flabbergasted that Obama would allow this to become law. It smells of special interest groups trying to get cheap filler meat at any cost and Obama simply going along with it. I expected more from him.

This is in no way meant sarcastically, I'm honestly wondering because I've never known much about the issue, but what's the difference between slaughtering a horse and a cow or a chicken, deer, etc? I'm assuming it's akin to dolphins vs fish, the level of intelligence, but I'm not sure.

It's sometimes head scratching how different two people's experience of the same thing can be, isn't it? From my narrative, clearly I didn't have those problems. Maybe because my iTunes Music Library was only near 10k songs? Or a higher percentage of them were "Matchable?" who knows.

We actually like the fact that all of our playlists got transferred along with all of our music, even though both Michelle and I have different playlists, because it meant all of them were available on our AppleTV. And there were no freezes or other connectivity issues. I'm guessing that a bunch of the issues you had will get improved over time, but we'll see.

After a nearly a week of working on it, I'm still not totally Matched. For my money, iTunes Match and iCloud are barely at the alpha stage.

First off, I have a 35k+ iTunes library, so creating a new, separate Match library was a PITA. Getting songs Matched and uploaded was a PITA - I had to stop it and start it countless times because the process froze. Many of the songs it felt the need to upload were surprising because it uploaded thousands of tracks that I know for a fact are available via the iTunes store. When I turned iTunes Match on on my iPhone, all my old playlists from my standard iTunes library were wiped, along with tracks that I am not really able to upload to the Match server because they're rough mixes of unreleased records I've been woking on recently. Yeah, it warned me it would do that....

iTunes Match should work with your current iTunes library, even if you're up over 25k non-iTunes store songs. Select the songs you want to match up to 25k - simple, easy, very Apple. I have no idea why they didn't do that. Turn iTunes Match on on your iOS device, and it should simply make your Matched items available on your device (like your purchased music was previously) rather than wiping your playlists and any music on your device that hasn't been Matched.

iCloud and iTunes Match make no allowance for families running multiple iOS devices with one Apple ID, like my family does. My Playlists are not my wife's, and they most certainly aren't my daughter's. My Contacts are not my wife's, and they most certainly aren't my daughter's. My Mail is not my wife's, and it's certainly not my daughter's. The thing is, they're not really technically sophisticated enough to deal with the multiple user IDs and passwords that it would require to have individual iCloud accounts. The Find My device can identify unique iOS and OS X devices. It seems that keeping track of different Contacts, for example, while sharing Calendar/iCal info would be possible under a unified Apple ID if they're capable of tracking down individual devices.

Anyway, I'm currently very, very, VERY unimpressed, and I'm not at all thrilled that I had to pay $25 to find out that iTunes Match is not anywhere near ready for prime time, much less anywhere near the beta stage. I hope it and iCloud will be in the future, but presently they're extremely disappointing to me.

I'm still dragging my feet on Lion because I would have to give up (or shell out for a new version) Word for Pages. Plus there's some issues with Photoshop, which I believe have a fix, but I haven't found out yet if Bridge CS4 still works with Lion. If it doesn't I'd have to get Light Room... assuming that works. I think Chrome is on the bandwagon now... but I haven't double checked. *sigh* Plus you loose color in Finder, which I already found a hack for, and a few other things that I think I mostly have found "fixes" for. Everything else I think I can adjust to.

The two things I have yet to be able to find hacks for that I don't think will bother me, but are bothering a friend, are the rubber band scrolling (Not Inertia, but the being able to scroll past visible content and having it bounce back) and the inability to add files and apps to your sidebar in Finder. Oh and being able to order your label colors by their custom names. That went away too apparently. Know any hacks for those?

I really do want to turn iCloud on though and the Match bit is very tempting.
